Display the console at any point in the game (during game play or at any screen).
Type /sv_cheats 1 then enter /devmap [map name]
Use the one of the following values for [map name]:
q3dm<1-18> or q3tourney<1-6>
Or, you can use any custom map (leave off the map extension *.bsp) The game will
load in single-player mode with the current settings of the bot variables, and
cheat mode enabled. Enter one of the following console commands to activate the
corresponding cheat function.

Note 1: when typing a console command press tab to see
all commands that begin with the same letter.
Note 2: The file pak0.pk3 in \baseq3 in the game directory is a zip file with
none compression; you can open it with winzip, extract a file, edit it, then
add it and replace it with the old one with none compression……enjoy.
But be sure to make a backup.

bring down the quake 3 console by pressing the ~ key and then type the fallowing line
\bind x \kill
where x is any key of your choice
now during game play if you press the key x. Then you will die your self. Thus you
can prevent others from fraging you in a mulitplayer game when time is critical.
